Providing a centralised function for regulators across DCCEEW to baseline regulatory performance and create a culture of ongoing maturity. Extensive internal and external stakeholder engagement to create forums that facilitate conversation and learnings from one another.

The Christmas Island Strategic Assessment Taskforce informs and creates initiatives to support diversification of economy and build a sustainable economy on Christmas Island, including supporting tourism and releasing Crown land for development. The assessment will protect Christmas Island's unique environment and under national environment law, including its unique rainforest, birds and crabs.

Role and responsibilities include:- Assist and advise on policy development for illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing matters, including monitoring, control and surveillance measures, in support of Commonwealth fisheries management objectives.- Coordinate Australian delegation briefing and preparations for international negotiations.- Work within a multidisciplinary team and with other Australian Government agencies to identify, implement, and report on the fulfillment of Australia’s international obligations and domestic policies/programs relating to fisheries management, including developing and updating legislative instruments.- Assist with maintaining bilateral and multilateral relationships to combat IUU fishing, through information sharing and the development and administration of capacity building projects.- Provide administration assistance to support the section’s and branch’s work.- Lead and manage record of understanding projects with other Australian Government agencies. - Engage contractors and coordinate procurement processes to outsource work that cannot be completed within the agency.I am very proud of the work I did in this role, particularly the development of the following animation:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1d8B5c8Y6c

Working in the National Compliance Operation team, I conducted inspections and investigations on commonwealth fishing vessels and illegal foreign fishing vessels fishing in Australian waters. This role also included industry consultation to and stakeholder engagement for contracted work.
