I worked as 2nd grade teacher in Detroit, Michigan. I created lesson plans in all subject areas, including math, social studies, reading, writing, and guided reading, that followed Common Core Curriculum Standards. I assessed students' knowledge of standards using a variety of strategies, including exit tickets, journal entries, large and small group discussions, and end of unit assessments. I also recorded student growth using an online grade book. I wrote weekly newsletters, generated quarterly progress reports, and communicated with parents through email, phone, meetings, and notes.
