As the Principal of Magnus Conventus, I have overall management responsibility for complex, multi-disciplinary events and research projects. I have overall authority and responsibility for the day-to-day operations of all projects including: establishing and monitoring critical path and timeline deliverables, task assignment, customer relationship management, event design and facilitation and speaker selection, engagement of research and event teams, as well as meeting all financial and customer satisfaction requirements. I am a lead researcher, author and manager of major research projects. For two decades, I conducted research focusing on education and skills in Canada, especially in the areas of literacy, employability and leadership. I have published 50+ reports and briefings and delivered numerous presentations on: skills, employability, post-secondary education, business-education partnerships, workplace literacy, workplace learning, workplace health and safety, professional development, and leadership training. I am also an experienced conference developer and manager who has successfully executed national and international events for business and government audiences. An accomplished meeting facilitator, I can effectively accommodate from 10 to 100 session participants.

Following years of progressive experience in research, I led the Conference Board's Education and Skills area and continued to lead the Conference Board’s major annual conference on Education and Skills. I developed and oversaw research and event programs, designed and delivered workshops, created and managed project plans and budgets, and participated in organizational management decisions. I also acted as a strategic advisor to various corporate service teams, including research and publishing quality control, convening and direct marketing. During this period, I was a judge for the annual Prime Ministers’ Awards for Teaching Excellence.

I directed all conferences, workshops and external courses for the Industry and Business Strategy research division of the Conference Board (e.g., education; corporate social responsibility; innovation; privacy; governance). I oversaw event teams, programs and sponsorships while managing project plans and budgets as well as registrations. I also acted as a strategic advisor to several corporate service teams, including research and publishing, quality control, finance, convening and direct marketing.

After rapidly progressing through the research stream at the Conference Board, I held the most senior level – Principal Research Associate – for several years. I acted as the lead researcher, author and manager of major research projects in the areas of education, skills, and learning. I published 30+ reports and briefings and delivered numerous presentations on: skills, post-secondary education, workplace literacy, employability, workplace learning, professional development, and leadership training.During this time, I managed three websites on skills development for the U.S. Department of Adult and Vocational Education. I also led a national research project on joint labour-management training programs for the U.S. Department of Labor.I also managed national research projects and published on: food (traceability, fisheries, food waste, food security, and food literacy); privacy; transportation; human resource management; sport policy; innovation; housing; corporate social responsibility; and the culture/creative sector.
