I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) within the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The goal of my research program is to advance prevention of lung disease and lung injury 1) by enhancing our understanding of pulmonary toxicants to improve policy and health, and 2) to elucidate mechanisms to inform prevention against the effects of exposure to environmental and occupational pulmonary toxicants. My research group works on numerous toxicants linked to environmental pulmonary carcinogenesis, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as well as other insults linked to lung diseases such as asthma. I have numerous collaborations and am open to more.I am also the director for the MPH program in our Dept of EOH and teach several key courses in the MPH and DrPH programs, including Toxic Agents in the Environment and Workplace. Additionally, I am co-director of the NIEHS funded Colorado Undergraduate Research in Environmental Health Sciences (CUResh) program for underrepresented students. Lastly, I am the current chair of the Environmental, Occupational, and Population assembly for the American Thoracic Society (ATS).
