• Litigate a variety of business and employment claims in state and federal courts, including claims arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, as well as contractual disputes and business torts. • Advise local and international employers regarding a variety of issues, including, but not limited to, employee discipline and terminations, reductions in force, internal investigations, leave issues, independent contractors, wage and hour issues, performance evaluations, reasonable accommodations, and restrictive covenants.• Regularly represent clients before various agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Virginia Employment Commission. • Conduct workplace investigations for clients, including reviewing documentation, conducting interviews and evaluating credibility, and preparing comprehensive investigation reports.• Prepare and conduct trainings for supervisors, employees, and Human Resource professionals on a number of topics, including, but not limited to, harassment and discrimination, performance evaluations, managing problem employees, managing leave under the FMLA, providing reasonable accommodations, and conducting internal investigations.• Review and develop corporate policies, including drafting and revising employee handbooks.• Negotiate and draft various contractual agreements, including employment agreements, severance agreements, and settlement and release agreements.
