Programme Executive - Get Into

Birmingham, United Kingdom

As a Programme Executive for Get Into I was responsible for running work experience and training programmes with external delivery partners aimed at unemployed 16-25 year olds. I worked on an individual and group basis with the participants for the duration of the programme and plan and run induction, employability, action planning and team building sessions. During programme I was responsible for the welfare of each individual, as well as for monitoring and supporting their learning and progression. I managed petty cash, ensuring young person’s travel costs are reimbursed and liaise with their Job Centre advisors where necessary to ensure benefits were maintained. After programme I offered up to six months of progression support to assist individuals in achieving a positive outcome. The support included submitting applications for Prince’s Trust Development Awards (small cash grants) and making them aware of appropriate opportunities available to them such as apprenticeships, volunteering roles and job vacancies. At specific times during a programme I worked closely with other Prince’s Trust functions including Outreach, Assessments and Outcomes, Volunteers, Programme Support, Fundraising, Contracts and Finance. I was also responsible for maintaining and developing a positive working relationship with the delivery partner before, during and after programme through regular meetings, co-delivery of sessions and email and telephone calls. I worked to minimum standards, keeping all paper and electronic records up to date and in line with the data protection policy and was responsible for submitting programme reports within allocated time frames.

Job Ambassador

Birmingham & The Black Country

Working as part of the Outreach Team I offered support to 13-30 year olds who were seeking their next steps into education, employment or training. Through local community groups including Job Centre Plus, Talent Match and Crisis UK I met with disengaged young people and delivered sessions to groups and individuals detailing information about appropriate opportunities available via the Prince’s Trust and other organisations. I promoted Prince’s Trust programmes to both young people and external organisations across Birmingham and the Black Country by attending careers fayres and events as well as setting up meetings with providers. I referred young people to suitable opportunities based on their current situation and hopes for the future both within the Prince’s Trust or external organisations. I supported young people in preparing for interviews which they attended in the hope of gaining a place on a Prince’s Trust programme. I worked to monthly targets and always ensured that I worked hard to reach and in some cases exceed the targets I was set. In August 2015 I was awarded ‘Job Ambassador of the Month’ after being nominated by my manager for my commitment to the role and support I had shown to my colleagues.
