Direct the Society’s policy and media operations. Work with numerous other DC-based organizations to give science a voice at the federal level. Activities include organizing congressional briefings, providing scientific input on legislation and proposed rule changes, advising the Society’s leadership on key policy issues, advocating for federal support of science and science education, providing communications training, and sharing ecological information through press releases and new media including blog posts, Twitter and Facebook.

Led public affairs initiatives by crafting and implementing a strategic communication plan for the Implementing Agreement for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (IAHEV), which included managing a website, social media engagement, newsletters, and web analytics to effectively reach policymakers. Worked with senior DOE leadership to plan the inaugural International Partnership for Energy Efficiency and Cooperation meeting to advance clean energy by coordinating 15 ministerial-level representatives and hosting a press conference to spotlight global clean energy policy advancements. Crafted press materials to highlight DOE projects.

Developed policy and Implemented a high-profile, multi-state community initiative based on public/private partnerships with 335 federal, state and local partner agencies, nonprofits, the business community, elected officials, press, and 12,000 volunteers.
