Alison Moore manages the University of Queensland's Pinjarra Hills Research Precinct, primarily focused on supporting research in extensive livestock production; biotechnology; waste conversion; and engineering applications; while continuing to teach in UQ's School of Agriculture and Food Sciences and the International Water Centre; as well as team member in the Australian Government's Africa Agribusiness Awards and in an Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) project in Myanmar. Her recent work has been as a consultant, primarily in evaluation. She launched Empatheia Consulting in 2010 with extensive experience working with communities and in agriculture and natural resource management.She has worked in government as a senior manager and an agricultural extension officer in NSW and Queensland, and is a former journalist and editor with Rural Press and News Ltd.Alison has expertise in evaluation; agricultural and natural resource management extension delivery; policy design; and communication techniques; and is regularly involved in complex cross-cultural negotiations. She teaches in the areas of evaluation, stakeholder engagement, extension, effective team building and social planning.She has had clients in a variety of jurisdictions which include government (including the Australian, Queensland, NSW and Cambodian governments); universities in Queensland and NSW; natural resource regional bodies and catchment committees; local community groups in both Queensland and NSW; and non-government organisations.She has a long-standing passion and involvement in agriculture and is part of a three-generation wool-growing and beef family in New South Wales, Australia.With undergraduate qualifications in Agricultural Economics; a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management; and a Masters degree in Social Planning and Development, she is an industry fellow of the University of Queensland's School of Social Science; a community assessor for the Australian Government's Caring for Country program; and a member of the Australasian Evaluation Society.She has received nominations for excellence in teaching from the University of Queensland's Masters of Development Practice in both 2010 and 2011.She has experience in regional and rural locations in Australia, Solomon Islands, Cambodia, Timor Leste, Canada, Finland and Sweden.
