About Alison Nicholson
I have worked in the Charity Sector for over 6 years and in management and leadership for the past 10. My current role is Deputy Head of Development and Quality at Turning Tides and my area of specialism is Community Development, especially Volunteering, Mentoring and Befriending, Digital Inclusion and Community Giving. I am very proud to have played a key role in growing Turning Tides volunteering programme, tripling the organisations volunteers, creating a more diverse and accessible volunteering offer and creating opportunities for the community to share their unique skills and interests with the charity. In 2020 the Charity was awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary service.Mentoring and Befriending is a huge passion, I designed, piloted, adapted and grew Turning Tides' Mentoring and Befriending Service and continue to work with a very talented Mentoring and Befriending Coordinator to develop and grow this service.Good leadership and management is really important to me, I manage a very ambitious and talented team and work hard to collaborate and support them to achieve their visions and create an environment for them to thrive.Personally, I thrive under pressure, embrace change, love to learn, be creative and grow and to do good.
