I develop the events portfolio by organising the systematic use of the School's premises and facilities (when not in use by the School) by organisations, themselves charitable in nature, that have objectives in line with the School's charitable objectives and by growing the commercial hire of the facilities/Main duties include developing and delivering strategies and plans for Development and Events to achieve the School's aims and objectives and agreed targets; line management of the Development and Events Officer, supporting them with their responsibilities and encouraging professional development; ensuring all activities are managed within budget; cultivating and stewarding excellent relationships with all members of the QM Community, with a particular focus on members of the Old Margaretian Society and alumnae. The Development & Events Manager will be the key School liaison point for OMA officials and volunteers; making contact with and building relationships with current and new stakeholders of the School, growing the network and extending engagement with a view to future developmental potential; developing and delivering a programme of events, reunions, visits, volunteering and communications to foster good relationships with members of the QM community, including The Old Margaretian Association, alumnae, Friends of QM, parents and other stakeholders; maintaining and developing the use of the School's InTouch development CRM database - ensuring the effective capture, cleaning and retention of dat5a, updating of records and production of reports, drawing on the School's iSAMS and other databases as necessary.

As Events Manager I was responsible for delivering all Visit York events including the annual conference and the tourism awards. In addition to this I ran regular monthly membership networking events. From event concept, organisation to deliver and hosting I worked with venues and event suppliers to create cost effective events which helped inform the membership of industry developments whilst creating an informal environment for them to network and develop relationships.Other responsibilites included working on advertising sales encouraging the membership and business contacts to advertise in the various Visit York publications. Also general membership liaison and working with potential business associates to attract sponsorship for the higher profile events.

I grasped the opportunity to freelance when the opportunity arose. Working for both Welcome to Yorkshire and Visit York I delivered events on a freelance basis.

I started my career in tourism as Marketing Co-ordinator responsible for the marketing of tourism in Yorkshire. Progressing on to PA to the Head of Marketing and Development and latterly on to Events Officer. Responsible for developing the annual events programme I delivered a wide range of varied events including the prestigious White Rose Awards and This is Y annual conference.I developed strong relations across the sector and secured sponsorship to support the events programme ensuring that sponsors received value driven benefits derived through their association with the events.

As Conference Assistant I worked in an busy conference office, managing the diary and liaising with clients wishing to hire the various university facilities.The role involved liaison between the different department sof the university to ensure events did not impact on the timetable and event income generation was maximised where possible.
