About Alison Sears, Mph
I am a Master of Public Health graduate of the University of Edinburgh, seeking employment within the healthcare industry. While completing an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Calgary I developed a passion for environmental and women's health which I wanted to expand upon in graduate school. I was keen to learn more about different health systems around the globe while forming international connections, which ultimately led to my decision to study in Scotland. I have had the pleasure of gaining lab experience at the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute where I completed my honours thesis in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology investigating the molecular mechanisms of breast cancer. Outside of the classroom, I have been an active member of the organization Stop Addicting Adolescents to Vaping and E-Cigarettes. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I worked for the University of Calgary Recruitment and Admission team where I had the opportunity to engage with people from all corners of the globe. During the summers, I worked as a sailing coach at the Charlottetown Yacht Club where I ran a junior sailing program for 60 children. In 2021, I had the privilege of launching a Women's Sailing Program aimed on increasing female engagement in the sailing community. My lifelong goal is to make a positive impact by increasing the health and happiness of people worldwide. I am an excited, driven, and passionate person who is always up for a challenge!
