I was hired right out of college to work as a procurement specialist at Mansfield Engineered Components. The largest part of my job involves using an MRP system to manage inventory and order raw components from one of our dozens of suppliers in order to further the production of our company’s home appliance hinges. This often involves negotiating the pricing and lead time of our components with our suppliers and working with our shipping department to coordinate pick up and drop off for outsource jobs. I also work with my coworkers from a wide variety of departments including but not limited to Quality, Shipping, Production, and Maintenance to troubleshoot problems with our production. Since starting this job in June, I’ve had experience participating in and leading lean teams in order to save the company tens of thousands of dollars in production. These lean teams have taught me so much about strategizing and finding creative ways to promote greater efficiency in our production without sacrificing the effectiveness of our process.

I started working at the Tiffin Community YMCA in September of 2020 in the child-watch department two nights a week. Three weeks later, my boss offered me hours in building supervision on the weekends. After starting in those two departments, I also picked up several hours a week in the fitness department cleaning the fitness equipment, working at the front desk, cleaning for the maintenance department in the childcare rooms, and most recently, I ran the YMCA's weekend backpack food program to fulfill my internship necessary for graduation from Tiffin University. Though all of these departments are vastly different, I learned so much about working with people - both coworkers and customers - in my hours across this facility. I also learned the value of hard work and the way it impacts other people.
