As both a teacher of creative writing and a spiritual director/companion, I am interested in how individuals narrate their lives, and how our stories are an intimate part of who we are. I enjoy journeying with individuals trying to engage more deeply with their spirituality and creativity. I have facilitated groups on creativity, mid-life, spiritual growth and development, contemplative practice, interfaith dialogue, deep listening, and discernment -- among many other topics. Presently, I am looking to take my expertise in the spiritual components of wellness and combine them with my love of teaching and content creation to enhance the well-being of individuals in more corporate settings. I love working with groups of all types and ages, and have decades of experience teaching in traditional classroom settings, presenting to large groups for leadership development, and developing/facilitating in-person and virtual retreat offerings. I help others to excavate their own stories/paths for greater meaning, to communicate more effectively, and to become better decision makers. Further, by integrating contemplative learning into the classroom, I have seen students become more engaged in their own learning and better citizens of classroom communities.As an academic, I teach classes from creative writing (screenwriting/fiction) to interfaith dialogue, to contemplative learning--as well as old-school American literature. I always design my own material, have team-taught with other Professors, and am constantly looking for ways to grow and learn. When designing courses, I listen to my students' needs and learn from past experience. I recently taught a class on "female directors" -- a topic suggested by a student that I developed into an upper-division undergraduate course.Please contact me to explore how I can be of service to you or your organization.
