I have been the School Artistic Director for the past 8 years, where I am responsible for programming, producing, and overseeing a robust season of student shows as well as two Atlantic for Kids productions. I have had the joy of working as a freelance theatrical director and choreographer for the past 12 years, with an emphasis on Theater for Young Audiences. Most recent ATC for Kids credits include choreography for a new musical adaptation of The Velveteen Rabbit, and directing NY Premieres of Camp Kappawanna, a musical written by Grammy nominated Lisa Loeb, and Ivy and Bean, which went on to tour nationally. As a faculty member of the Atlantic, I teach Company Class and Moment Lab. In the former, I mentor the advanced level students through forming their own theater company and producing an inaugural production as an ensemble. The latter exposes students to a curriculum geared toward creating habits of heightened awareness, active listening, impulsive expressivity, improvisation in the present moment, and enhanced connection through various exercises. As an educator and advisor, I have found it exceptionally fulfilling to nurture emerging artists as they mature. I have come to recognize that helping others reach their potential gives me a sense of meaning. This realization ultimately led me to pursue a M.Ed. and M.A. in Psychological Counseling at Columbia University which I completed in May of 2017. My continued interest is examining how the disciplines of Theater and Psychology overlap, dialogue, and compliment one another.
