As an Outreach instructor, I am responsible for delivery of workshops and camps to youth across Canada. I work partly in office and partly on the road, creating and delivering locally relevant STEM curriculum to all youth. I work autonomously in a small team, monitored remotely to deliver STEM based curriculum in rural communities. Actua strives to give all youth access to STEM and to inspire and encourage involvement within the STEM community. As an English Monitor I worked at Academie Sainte Marie, a middle school in Beauport Quebec with Grade Sevens and Eights. I was responsible for:-working in collaboration with the teachers and Enriched english as a second language (EESL) curriculum to design engaging oral activities to improve students conversational ability, while reinforcing grammatical concepts learned in the classroom- Creating cultural activities to learn about Canada and the rest of the world- Supervising and managing up to 20 students in my own classroom- Accompanying students on various field trips, including a three night field trip to New York- Evaluating and monitoring my experience back to the Odyssey Program (part of Heritage Canada)- Communicating with the wider school and local community in French- participating in training sessions (overall 10 days) to improve teaching english language learning curriculum

CISV is an international organization that runs camps for youth across the globe to provide them with an immersive educational experience based around international development. The camp I was involved in was a "Step-Up" camp with 9 delegations from 9 different countries consisting of 15 year olds. The theme was preservation and the delegates were responsible for the leadership of the camp.As an Adult Leader at "Chimalli Huitzilli" I:- prepared four Canadian 15 year olds to go to Mexico, act as representatives of Canada and prepare an interactive activity focused on preservation - acted as the legal guardian of these youth and travelled to Mexico with them- Overcame challenges throughout the camp- assisted youth in leadership development, facilitating meetings and activity planning- successfully communicated cross culturally- built strong relationships with youth and fellow leaders from across the world- won "funniest leader"

As part of my degree, we were to take part in a Capstone class where we put what we had learned to use. My Capstone internship was to work at Inter Pares, and research a past program they had done, The Common Heritage Project. This program was done before computers, so they had very little documentation. Through the research on primary documents and interviews with stakeholders in the program we created summarized analytical briefs that the organization now has. I spent my third year of university studying development in Ghana, part of the program (January - April) was to take part in an internship of my choice while collecting information and writing an analytical paper on the organization. I chose to work with Teach on the Beach and focused on this organization in combination with voluntourism for my research.
