Analytical responsibility for ABs investments in banks and FIs across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as Australian corporates and REITs, structured credit and hybrids/alternative investments. A key member of the regional investment team, I provided timely, insightful and compelling investment recommendations incorporating both ‘bottom up’ fundamental and ‘top down’ macro/thematic analysis which supported the superior performance of AB’s Global and Emerging Market strategies. Co-ordinated the regional credit research effort, including prioritising coverage required to support the development of the Asian business and the implementation of the firm’s ESG framework. These contributed to the Q1 performance of AB’s award-winning RMB fund which grew to over US$1.0Bn less than 2yrs from inception. The role involved complete and autonomous analytical responsibility for credit research on banks, insurers and financial services providers across the entire Asia-Pacific region (ex Japan) as well as Australia/NZ. Provided insightful and compelling investment recommendations in the post-Asian crisis environment, and played a key role in marketing these to both global and local investors in the region. Provided regular commentary of key issuers and new investment opportunities, and developed and published regular topical commentary on issues and trends affecting banks in the region. The role was highly visible and involved regular client outreach/marketing presentations, and media appearances.Achievements• Developed a range of regular publications to showcase investment views and recommendations including ‘Asia-Pacific Banking Sector Strategy’ and ‘Asia-Pacific Financial Institutions in Focus’, as well as working with the regional team on regular credit strategy publications. These products supported the marketing efforts of the firm. • Represented the firm at various investor seminars, presentations, and in the news media (including regular appearances on CNBC’s ‘Asia Market Wrap’). .
