At Model Language Studio (MLS) I taught English, drama and Western culture to children from the age of 18 months to 12 years. MLS utilises a drama based method in their curriculum requiring an energetic and enthusiastic approach. Challenges included building students’ ability and confidence to the point where they can perform plays in English in front of a large audience.

At Five by Fifty I was involved in research. Tasks included tracking FMCG releases and keeping the company's website up-to-date with the latest information on FMCG consumer trends.

Working in the Leadership Services Team involved researching, prototyping and implementing leadership and development programs for police officers. Alongside maintaining the standard of the existing High Potential Development Scheme for police officers and staff I conducted a survey-based research project which fed into the development of a new revised scheme. Having excelled in my second year of University I was awarded a place on ShellStep’s Innovation Placement Program as a Project Manager for AbleChildAfrica. Working within this UK and Uganda based charity I assisted the director in day-to-day operations and worked independently on a new UK schools program. As part of a long term project working with Save the Children, I stayed with a family in Honduras and worked within the local community. After an intensive Spanish language course I joined a team to work on building projects including a school for the local farmers’ children and a new home for an agricultural family.

As part of a team representing the charitable organisation, Soapbox, I went to the slum Kibera, in Nairobi, to help build two clinics for the community. We worked among the local families and strove not only to meet the adults and play with the children but also to help and teach them as best we could.
