Manage UK based team with responsibility for reporting the International broking business of Hyperion Insurance Group. Core activities include monthly reporting to group deadlines, annual budget process and periodic re-forecasts, partnering with offices. Also involved in a range of ad-hoc tasks, including bringing new group companies into the reporting cycle, introducing new reporting system and making continuous improvements to this, developing a quarterly attestation process.

- Manage a team of 3 to ensure that monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations are accurately completed for 16 entities based in the UK, including review of the results;- Aggregating the UK results with 15 overseas regions and preparing commentary for issue to group management and ultimate parent finance team;- Ensuring statutory financial statements for the London-based companies are completed within group deadline of approx. 2 months, including liaising with auditors to obtain audit clearance;- Liaise with heads of support services functions to prepare annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts;- Review of budget and forecast submission of overseas entities.

• Preparing monthly management accounts for 6 London–based companies, comprising profit and loss accounts for over 20 cost centres and company balance sheets and cash flow statements;• Aggregating the results for the London-based companies with 9 overseas entities;• Preparing monthly flash reports and management accounts with commentary for issue to management and ultimate parent finance team;• Completing month-end reconciliations, including analysis and processing of journals;• Preparing statutory financial statements for the London-based companies, including liaising with auditors to obtain audit clearance;• Assisting the Finance Director with issues arising in overseas entities.

Whilst working in the audit department of PKF Sydney, I was promoted to Assistant Manager. My role included:• Managing and completing the audit of several companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange;• Reviewing work of audit team members and providing feedback and training, reporting to partner/principal on progress and significant issues;• Reviewing group consolidations and financial statements for adherence with IFRS and proposing relevant changes;• Preparing reports to board of directors, highlighting perceived risks and significant issues arising, attending client meetings with finance directors and other senior staff and providing technical advice; • Preparing audit working paper files and financial statements for special project vehicles, and liaising with the auditors of said companies to obtain audit clearance;• Acting as a super-user for the audit software used (reviewing new templates, suggesting improvements, helping other staff with day-to-day issues, and attending meetings with members of other departments to discuss issues).

My main duties included• Completing audit files including budget preparation and planning;• Overseeing junior members of staff including briefing, debriefing and on the job training;• Drafting statutory accounts (including cashflow statements) from client’s trial balance and from source data, including those for sole traders, partnerships and groups;• Preparing corporation tax returns, including for group companies;• Reporting to manager on audit progress and issues;• Preparing reports for AIM listing based on sensitivity analysis of the forecasted results to establish the break even points for key variables;• Preparing personal tax returns as part of the personal tax department during December 2005.
