I am a reflective leader that is committed to upholding a growth mindset for myself and others. I am committed to getting to know students personally by name, learning their strengths and needs, and working in partnership with staff, students and families to develop a relevant and rigorous curriculum that prepares students for the future THEY choose. I became a school leader because I believe in the power of schools to create opportunities for students. It is my strongest conviction that schools have the potential to set students up to live healthy, productive and fulfilling lives. Furthermore, schools have the power to transform our communities, nation and world. To be successful in our pursuit of creating positive outcomes for students, it is critical to maintain focus on the mission. My core values for leadership are: Belonging, Achievement and Joy. I use these values to maintain focus in serving students. In striving to create a culture of belonging, I seek to ensure from the moment any student, staff member, parent or community member walks into the building that they feel the sense that this is a place where they belong and are welcome. This is not only how we treat others but also in the practices we use to teach children. Do they see themselves in the curriculum? Does the curriculum meet students where they are? By promoting a culture of achievement, I intend to send the message that at my school you are going to grow. You are going to develop your skills and you are going to leave prepared for your future. Achievement does not just apply to the classroom, but it also applies to citizenship, and demonstrating mastery in the skills that you are passionate about. I want all students to have a sense that they should be proud of themselves and their school.Finally, I believe that each day we should rejoice. It is so important that we celebrate our achievements, along with celebrating the students and families simply for being themselves. School should be a joyful place where students feel excited to develop friendships and as individuals. I want students to see learning as fun and have something to look forward to each day at school.
