Teach and conduct research regarding multicultural education, secondary literacy, curriculum theory, and qualitative research methods. Supervise undergraduate and graduate research.

Developed and facilitated workshops and seminars related to social justice, racism, classism, homophobia, and gender oppression in P-12, university, and social contexts.

Greater Chicago Area

Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in curriculum, secondary education, and English education. Supervises clinical experiences and student teachers. Conducts research related to equity and justice in urban P-12 classrooms.

Greater Boston Area

Taught undergraduate courses on language, literacy and culture, learning theory, and elementary and secondary methods. Taught doctoral seminars (online & hybrid) on the social & cultural foundations of education. Directed doctoral committees and undergraduate pre-practicum and student teaching programs. Managed relationships with partner schools.

Taught graduate and undergraduate courses related to historical and contemporary manifestations of social inequity and justice in K-16 education, including Social Justice Education in Schools, Racism in Education, Gender Oppression in Education, and Reflective Practice in Social Justice Education. Topics covered include social and educational theory.

Taught multiple undergraduate and graduate education courses, including Reflective Practice and Teaching for Social Justice (Elementary), Social Justice Education in P-12 Schools, and Social Issues in Education (Racism, Classism and Gender Oppression). Topics covered include social identity, social oppression, equity oriented reform, P-12 methods.

Taught British & American literature, grammar, and composition to culturally, academically and linguistically diverse high school students. Additional responsibilities included oversight of a student-initiated literary magazine, collaboration with university-based pre-practicum and counseling programs, and assistance with NEASC accreditation processes.

Taught service learning and internship programming to students in grades 9-12. Additional responsibilities included student advising, oversight of cross-curricular academic internship programs, and participation in all aspects of academic planning and school governance for two of six district high schools.
