The Teacher Practitioner (TP) role, sees me involved in many parts of Pharmacist development and training, as well as maintaining an active role as a practising Pharmacist in our Boots stores.For 2 days a week I work with undergraduates across all four years as part of the 'Pharmacy Practice Team' based at Huddersfield. I am involved in teaching practical elements of Pharmacy such as dispensing and practice skills, as well as communication skills, calculations, services and law and ethics. I co-lead the pharmacy practice module for our final year students which involves helping them to apply the knowledge learnt in former years to practice situations helping to prepare them for their pre-registration year after graduation. The remaining 3 days are spent supporting Boots Pre-Registration Pharmacists at a local level in West Yorkshire, running training days with them, as well as providing mentoring support when needed. TPs are also involved in the development of our Pharmacists, Dispensers and Technicians. We provide training and assessment for ACTs as well.TPs in Boots help to design and develop training to support key business objectives within the company and I have recently been involved in producing training for some new pharmacy services.Finally we have a involvment in recruitment, working alongside our undergraduates and also with the Boots SPP programme.
