Alison Lindburg is the Buildings Director at the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance in Chicago, IL. Her work to improve energy efficiency in buildings spans thirteen states in the Midwest, and includes building energy code adoption, energy code compliance, and market transformation strategies such as building energy ratings, energy benchmarking and performance standards, and access to energy data. She is the Chair of the Sustainability Membership Committee of the International Code Council. Prior to MEEA, Alison was the Director of the Buildings program at non-profit Fresh Energy, supporting policies that increase energy efficiency in buildings in Minnesota. She served on the Board of Directors for the USGBC-MN and the GreenStar Technical Committee, the first green residential remodeling-only standard in the U.S.Previously she directed the Eco-Affordable Housing program for non-profit Dovetail Partners, working in rural areas to promote sustainability through green building demonstration projects, enhance economic development through the use of local building materials, and provide green building education and training to contractors and communities, including helping "green" Habitat for Humanity of MN. Prior to Dovetail, Alison worked for The Lander Group, a Twin-Cities based urban development firm, where she helped develop and implement their green building program. Alison is experienced in building science, energy policy, energy codes, group facilitation, property management, financial planning & budgeting, project management, and construction supervision. She has a BA in Architecture, with a focus on green design, and a minor in Spanish from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Alison has presented at multiple events across the country, and her work has been featured in publications and media outlets such as Minnesota Public Radio and Livin' the Green Life. When not championing energy efficient buildings, Alison paints, plays piano, reads science fiction, and practices yoga.
