My focus is always on the person, the people and the business.My experience is wide ranging but I particularly like working with businesses and individuals who are in a challenging position , and very often our agreed aim is to achieve a ' Commercial divorce' in a pragmatic and cost effective manner. This includes dealing with shareholder, board and partnership disputes, contractual claims, and .resolving banking, financial and regulatory issues . Challenges can come not just from disputes, but also from the success a business has achieved - such as accelerated growth, the need to fill key positions or find additional finance - all things I can help with.And as for people-most business owners will say that managing their people is the most rewarding, but also the most difficult part of their role. I recognise this having been the Managing Partner and then Chief Executive of berg law firm for over ten years , prior to its merger with Kennedys , a global law firm, in 2017. I advise on all aspects of people management and employment law. I have received a number of personal awards for my work including- Inspiring Women of the Year- Business/ Professional Category, Downtown Business Women of the Year, MEN Top 50 women in the North West, North West Power Women List, Woman of the Year National invitee and most recently I have been listed in the Best Lawyers in the UK 2023 edition.I wanted to drive my career in a different direction and joining Lockett Loveday McMahon Solicitors at the start of 2022 is part of that . I am enjoying the flexibility my new role affords me, allowing me to continue to work with my established client base, whilst continuing to meet new clients and contacts and seek out new consultancy and non executive Director roles , where my skill set and personal attributes can best make a contribution .It also allows me to give more time to my various other commitments including my position on the board of directors and also as joint chair of the Skills Committee with pro manchester ( a business development organisation promoting and supporting business in Greater Manchester ), as an ambassador for Antz UK (which drives sustainable business growth and social change ), and supporting skills and mentorship - including through the Greater Manchester hub for the National Literacy Trust Charity.
