Ma Publishing Student

University Of Derby

I have already studied the following modules:English for EditorsThe Publishing ProfessionCritical Perspectives in Strategic Management and LeadershipEditorialPrint and Digital ProductionMarketing and Sales in Modern Publishing I am currently working on a major publishing project, which is the final module on this course. I have also had the opportunity to be involved in The Derby Yearbook, which is a book celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Derby being awarded city status. I was asked to take some photographs to accompany some of the contributions which were included in the book, which resulted in some of my photographs being published.

Volunteer

Bolsover

I have worked in a variety of community development roles, both paid and unpaid within the District of Ashfield. I joined CVP, the local infrastructure organisation in Bolsover supporting the voluntary and community sector, in July, 2014 after being hosted by them throughout my year as a Trainee Community Organiser. I have previously been a Centre Manger of a church and community centre. Past experience includes organising events, designing community development intervention projects and fundraising. I have a Foundation Degree in Community Development and Regeneration (Distinction), qualified as a Senior Community Organiser and also successfully studied Conflict, Communication and Transformation with the University of the West of England (completing a Module at Level 7). I have also completed a Community Journalism Course too with Future Learn. I also have a First Class (BA) Honours Degree in Health and Social Care and am currently studying at the University of Derby undertaking a Masters Degree in Publishing.I attend many events in a voluntary capacity, taking photographs in order to provide organisations with a visual record of their event. Photographs and montages of photographs in a film/video format are used as evaluation and monitoring purposes and are essential tools too when promoting and developing events, activities and services as they can be easily shared on social media platforms.

Trainee And Senior Community Organiser

Bolsover

During my first Year as a Community Organiser I was identified as a person with certain attributes i.e. reliable and professional, hard-working, reflective, enterprising, resilient, positive, exciting, challenging and with the ability to inspire others and was invited to be part of the Community Organisers’ Inspiration Network. Inspiration Network Assignments I have been assigned include mentoring a Trainee Community Organiser, attending Art of Host Training Sessions, attending training planning and reflective sessions. I was also heavily involved, in a voluntary capacity, in the planning of the Community Organisers’ Mass Meet Up Event – CoCo15 which took place over three days at the beginning of June, 2015. During my two years as a Community Organiser it has become more and more apparent that the focus and emphasis of funding priorities is within the Health and Social Case Sector, with more and more reliance being placed on the community and voluntary sector to deliver much needed and vital services. As a Community Organiser it has been my job to listen to what residents love about where they lived and also to gain an understanding of what issues and concerns they had too and worked together to find creative solutions to problems. I gained trust by actively listening to people and showing empathy when listening to their issues or concerns and offered support and encouragement in order to help them to find the best ways to resolve their problem.I also have a passion for photography and take photographs at events in order to create a visual record which can be share with key stakeholders and partners.
