At MATC, I worked with middle school students at an after school program called Roads, Rails, and Race Cars. The middle schools that are chosen for this club is based on the percentage of free and reduced lunches that they provide. At "Club" I was responsible for engaging students in fun, hands-on presentations an activities related to various careers in STEM fields that these students may not have heard of otherwise. I created learning opportunities related to my area of study as well. As a mentor to these students, I was able to remember why I chose this major to begin with: my love for finding effective solutions to challenging problems.

I had the opportunity to work as a marketing intern for the process and industrial group of Burns & McDonnell, a consulting engineering firm located in Kansas City, Missouri. I served an integral role of the marketing team: creating a database of all of the department's projects for organizational purposes, researching previous and potential clients for future use, and completing various tasks for proposals. I learned a lot about the business aspect of the engineering industry and will no doubt be able to utilize this information in my future career as an engineer.
