As a native Southerner based in New Orleans, I think and act with a global perspective. A former Catholic nun, I am rooted in progressive spirituality, an understanding of the mystics, and contemplative action. As an enrolled tribal citizen, I practice our Native traditions and live out a oneness with the land cultivating a backyard garden of more than 100 species of fruits and vegetables. Others would describe me as deep, courageous, compassionate, big-hearted, and generous. They would also say that I am an intentional, driven, smart, and successful risk taker. It has been said that “Alison is a verb. She gets shit done.” Key Accomplishments: I led the statewide Unanimous Jury Campaign in 2018 to overturn a 138-year-old Jim Crow Law in Louisiana through a ballot initiative. I have served as a Spiritual Advisor on Louisiana’s Death Row, visiting people since 2005 and accompanying them as they face execution.
