I work on issues related to criminal justice reform, environmental justice, immigrant rights, international human rights, cultural preservation, voting rights, and disaster recovery.A dynamic networker, I build relationships and communities founded on mutual respect and trust with system-impacted people and other changemakers. Together, we create and transform cultural and organizational infrastructures that nurture and grow communities and birth social movements of liberation, accountability, and justice. My Services: Movement Capacity BuildingProgram DevelopmentPhilanthropic Advising Project Management Restorative Justice FacilitationMediation and Conflict Resolution ServicesTraining on Conflict Resolution and Mediation Skills Non-Profit Board Development Strategic Development Campaign ManagementOrganizational Assessment Work Plan DevelopmentRetreat, Group, and Meeting Facilitation Keynote Speaker and Conference Workshop Facilitation Legislative Advocacy Legal Representation Leadership Coaching DEI TrainingWhat Is Unique About Me:I believe in the power of hope and courage to sustain and support movements for social change and liberation. As a native Southerner based in New Orleans, I think and act with a global perspective. A former Catholic nun, I am rooted in progressive spirituality, an understanding of the mystics, and contemplative action. As an enrolled tribal citizen, I practice our Native traditions and live out a oneness with the land cultivating a backyard garden of more than 100 species of fruits and vegetables. Others would describe me as deep, courageous, compassionate, big-hearted, and generous. They would also say that I am an intentional, driven, smart, and successful risk taker. It has been said that “Alison is a verb. She gets shit done.” Key Accomplishments: I led the statewide Unanimous Jury Campaign in 2018 to overturn a 138-year-old Jim Crow Law in Louisiana through a ballot initiative. I have served as a Spiritual Advisor on Louisiana’s Death Row, visiting people since 2005 and accompanying them as they face execution. I have founded mediation programs that have become national models: the New Orleans Community-Police Mediation Program, the ReEntry Mediation Institute of Louisiana, and the Louisiana Collaborative for Conflict and Accountability.
