In my time with DoneGood, working out of the Harvard Innovation Lab, I did front-end development and web design for the social-impact startup (with the goal of helping users find and support businesses that share their values). The first part of the internship was spent making improvements to the existing company website (http://donegood.co), including increasing responsiveness of its design, reformatting and adding new features to business profiles, and creating forms aiding accessibility for both users and business owners. The second part of my summer was spent designing sites for alternative business models: ShopDoneGood (implemented), an affiliate marketing platform for ethical clothing companies, and PoweredBuy (front-end only), a tool considering users’ values, tracking purchases, and sending messages to businesses they frequent suggesting how to improve customers’ experiences.

Jun 2016 - Aug 2016

Lunder Intern: Program Evaluation And Permissions Research

Boston, Ma

As a Program Evaluation intern in the Education Department, I took part in the execution, analysis, and presentation of a number of studies. The first involved surveying visitors who participated in one or more tours and the museum as well as visitors who chose not to participate in a tour and using the data collected to make a conclusive presentation to the MFA Associates. Next, I conducted interviews as part of an ongoing investigation of the effectiveness of one of the museum’s family resources, the Art Connection Cards. In addition, I developed a short study from scratch with a coworker to determine the impact of the animated display opening the MFA’s Hokusai exhibit and worked independently on organizing data for an ongoing study of studio art class offerings at the Museum. My role in the Intellectual Property Department was to perform permissions research for artists’ whose work has recently been added to the permanent collection of the MFA. After determining whether or not the museum had confirmed image usage permission or lack thereof from the copyright holder for each artist, I would send either an estoppel letter informing the representative of the Museum’s acquisition or send a General Permission Request in order to determine what sorts of image use the representative will allow for the work. As this is a continual process, I also pursued an independent project which incorporates my interest in graphic design: an infographic simplifying the permissions research process for future interns.
