Profile bio

About Alison Reijman

Positive, upbeat, influential, charismatic and very smiley journalist, PR professional, storyteller and active social media networker.Currently, I am working as Media and Content Executive, previously PR Executive, at Brendoncare, a brilliant charitable organisation celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. I have written most of its website, got some visiting penguins in the tabloids and its wonderful cover version of Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called To Say I Love You" single on local television. I've worked in public relations for some diverse organisations including Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the National Trust, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, the British Council, De La Rue, the Hampshire Chronicle, Hartford Care and First Bus.For each of them I have created many PR and media opportunities, some of which have involved Routemaster buses, caravans constructed of Lego bricks, James Bond’s Aston Martin, Lord Nelson, historic ships and female refuse collectors. Storytelling is key to my personal brand especially those about people doing remarkable things or breaking stereotypes. But building brand awareness, maintaining corporate reputations and handling crisis management are all part of my skills set. My other lifelong passion is progressive rock (Prog) and I am a regular contributor to Prog magazine. I have also written features for Big Big Train's tour programmes.Following my time at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, I became a Nelson aficionado, joining The 1805 Club for which I served as a Council Member and Hon Media Officer. However, my proudest personal achievement was being recognised in a national campaign as one of three faces of the Ageless Generation, a competition sponsored by Playtex to find vivacious, positive, adventurous women in their 50s. Despite reaching the autumn/winter of my professional life, I have no intention of retiring because I love my job and making a difference, bringing my experience and hopefully wisdom to all my work. I have now started writing my memoirs, working title "Chronicles of a Progressive Woman", as there are plenty of stories to tell both personally and professionally.
