My first permanent position out of school starting as a new entrant at ANZ 13 King William Street, Adelaide and after learning the basics of branch banking, had various roles including Teller, Ledger Examiner, Foreign Currency Clerk and Term Deposit Clerk. Transferring to ANZ King & George Streets, Sydney for a six month experience as a Senior Ledger Examiner, I returned to Adelaide to work in the Batching and Accounting Centre. ANZ went through a massive overhaul in the late 80s and the Adelaide Enquiry Centre was an innovative centralisation of all back office functions and domestic and commercial lending. I experienced the role of a Team Leader in several teams in the area of customer service, promoting from a small team of 5 to eventually leading a team of 12 Account Maintenance Officers, specialising in Deceased Estates.
