About Alison Tanker
My professional experience has focused on advancing the work of changemakers and scaling their radically different models in the fields of international development, poverty alleviation, female empowerment, education reform, trauma healing, and anti-trafficking efforts. Currently at Korda Institute for Teaching, we are working to scale an innovative method for teaching and learning that transforms students, educators and their schools. This work evolved from Hawken School’s Educators Program, which trained hundreds of educators to implement entrepreneurship and project-based programs in schools around the world. While at Hawken School, I also co-taught the signature Entrepreneurial Studies course that immerses students in creative problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration and more skill-building experiences. Prior to that I founded Tigress, which empowered young female changemakers through experiential learning in social entrepreneurship and creativity. Additionally, I helped develop and scale multiple social enterprises founded by Ashoka Fellows, Bono of U2, and Richard Branson in the United States, United Kingdom, Latin America, and the Caribbean. I have an Interdisciplinary Studies degree with a focus in Social Entrepreneurship.Another passion project that I'm involved with is using creative movement classes as a healing practice for survivors of trauma and human trafficking. I'm currently completing postgraduate studies in Dance Movement Therapy with world-renowned experts in India. If you are interested in connecting, please reach out!
