Ms. Cope has 23 years of experience preparing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, and required supporting documentation. She is the principal and owner of Sage Environmental Group, a small, woman-owned business. She is proficient at synthesizing issues associated with sensitive environments into workable solutions for a variety of projects without ignoring environmental concerns or compromising environmental values. She collaborates with project owners and stakeholders to develop concept alternatives and ecological design strategies. She conducts natural resource studies, habitat restoration and landscaping planning, regulatory permitting, and authors related sections of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR). She holds a C-27 landscaping contractor's license and manages permitted biologists conducting surveys for listed species. Ms. Cope has developed, designed, implemented native habitat restoration plans for wetland, riparian, and upland habitat areas that are uniquely tailored to support site-specific baseline conditions and encourage use by sensitive wildlife. She utilizes innovative soft engineering techniques, such as gabion drop structures to reduce erosive velocities, stream bank stepping and low/high-flow by-pass structures to spread hydrology to adjacent areas, topsoil salvage, and seed imprinting techniques. Recently, she acquired a herd of goats to provide grazing for weed abatement and fire fuel load reduction.
