Device Development Engineer InternshipRegenxbio Inc. May 2022 - Aug 2022Rockville, Maryland, UsCompleted three projects during internship specific to ocular and central nervous system drug delivery devices. First, designed and conducted device assessment of subretinal cannulas. Created test methods for an axial force testing machine (Instron) using ISO and USP guidelines. Designed and 3D printed custom test fixtures using SolidWorks. Conducted data analysis and authored test reports to compare device performance. Presented a poster summarizing the device assessment to approximately 100 engineers at an in-company research symposium. Second, developed and built a benchtop device to simulate the characteristics of a vitrectomy machine for laboratory testing. The lab-based system achieved significant cost savings over purchasing a dedicated vitrectomy machine. Third, developed testing strategy and test method for measuring injection force for various syringes, spinal needles, and extension sets. Analyzed data to determine relationship between injection force, injection speed, and component configuration. -

Research AssistantGeorge Mason University Jun 2019 - Sep 2019Fairfax, Virginia , UsWorked on osteoporosis research with Dr. Vasiliki Ikonomidou. Started the process for re-working a previous experiment she had done (previous experiment looked at whether a texture analysis of T1-weighted MPRAGE images of the brain could show osteoporosis-related images in the second cerebral vertebra; the experiment concluded that texture analysis was not a promising method for identifying patients with osteoporosis). In the re-work, the ultimate goal is to use MRI images of patients (sample size 40) to see if this would be a viable way to identify osteoporosis. Some tasks I completed:- went through database to get overview of patients-from this, used Excel to organize data to make it more usable- after sorting preliminary data, sifted through 2 TB of patient data to identify 40 viable patients-used MIPAV to look at MRI images
