My drive to work in healthcare started with my own diagnosis of an autoimmune disease as a child. The care and compassion that my providers gave to me ignited my love for medicine and desire for direct patient care. I strive to use my past experience as a patient to provide hope and empathy to the sick individuals that I care for and their loved ones. I also personally know and understand the burden that medical bills can impose, which is why I have dedicated my volunteer efforts to work with the underserved communities that struggle the most with these costs. I have amassed various skills and knowledge in the organizations that I have been involved with during my undergraduate career. I spent time volunteering with Venice Family Clinic as a Specialty Referral Coordinator, where I served the homeless and lowest socioeconomic populations of the Los Angeles area. As a research assistant at both UCLA and Duke University, I enjoyed working with my mentors and peers to provide innovative solutions to problems. My current role as a medical scribe at Exer Urgent Care is furthering my medical knowledge and patient care. In addition, my education as a Human Biology and Society major at UCLA with a concentration in Bioethics and Public Science Policy has provided me with an interdisciplinary approach to social and economic problems relating to medicine.
