Alissa is a zealous young multi-media journalist with a passion for storytelling, through various mediums including television, social media and performing arts. She has covered a variety of subjects from politics to breaking news to entertainment. She is driven by the desire to uplift communities through the power of education.Alissa is currently pursuing a Master's of Public Administration and Policy at American University in Washington D.C. She plans to combine her knowledge of policy with her work in journalism to create informative and impactful stories in her work community. Alissa believes that an educated journalist, is a powerful journalist. Alissa's most recently began working on a docuseries about Charleston, South Carolina's native Gullah Geechie Culture and the cultural connection to Ghana. Alissa moved to Ghana to work on the project in 2019. However, the COVID-19 pandemic put a pause on the docuseries. A May 2016 graduate of The University of South Carolina, Alissa majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Theater. As a storyteller, she continues to use both theater and journalism to be a bridge of awareness and a vessel to tell stories.Alissa is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she served as the Ivy Leaf Reporter and Publicity Chairman for her undergraduate chapter.
