Forestry Commission
My last post was in the Corporate and Forestry Support Division within the Commission, which deals with Research, Governance, Communication and International/European Union Issues. One of my main duties was to support staff in the arrangements of senior civil servant meetings/International visits, which took place around the country several times a year. This included aiding senior colleagues in preparing and formatting agendas/papers for meetings, co-ordinating forest tours throughout the country and arranging travel for civil servants. These preparations involved regular contact on the phone, in person, e-mail and setting up files for each meeting.Other main duties include maintaining/designing and publishing documents on the Intranet and Internet site using an Oracle and Lotus notes application portal, to aid me in this process I used Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I also used further programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Dreamweaver/Fireworks MX, Outlook and Visio. Other duties included working on projects as they arise either as a member of a team or on my own, this can be producing presentations with the aid of Powerpoint, to maintaining and creating spreadsheets using Excel. Further projects included aiding senior staff on the preparation and proofreading of the Forestry annual report. I was also the departmental co-ordinator for promoting the ISO 14001 Environmental Standard throughout the division and help support the division on IT solutions. I have completed courses in Project Management, Web Design and advanced levels in Word, Excel and Powerpoint.I also processed invoices, journals and purchase orders on a daily basis using a package called Cedar financials, plus provided administrative support to departmental government advisors. I provided cover for other colleagues which duties included, booking meeting rooms, mail and other general office duties.
