Information Systems Development ManagerA Novo Uk Ltd Nov 2003 - May 2005Working with key clients and suppliers including Orange, O2, T-Mobile, Nokia, Sony, Samsung and HTC, my role was to effectively manage the day-to-day business challenges facing a team of 30 IS professionals over five operational sites and an associated team undertaking programming and support functions.A notable project was leading a reverse logistics track and trace system re-engineering process to control the repair of mobile phones. This involved consolidating 14 separate systems into one single system that could provide real-time reporting, claim management/customer billing and benchmarking of mobile phone operations. This was developed using an Indian-based software house who provided onsite testing and development teams to help develop and cross-fertilise project management techniques.A key achievement was modernising the company's desktop and server farm footprint to increase business efficiency and reduce downtime costs. We invested in £300K worth of equipment and standardised the product onto DELL computers, placing the footprint on a service contract. -
Global Supply Chain Development ManagerOrange Nov 1998 - Jul 2003Operating as supply chain and processes lead in a group of nine Development Managers covering 22 countries, I supported the company's strategic mobile phone distribution policy and guided their supply chain systems policies and operational development.Notable projects included:- Managing the ITT processes for courier firms for a major five-year (£4M/pa) contract with Orange to provide reverse logistics services in the UK. This involved briefing and auditing participating companies, leading the implementation of the physical services during the ‘UK petrol fuel crisis’, starting an internal TNT depot linked to the business operation and interfacing SAP/Merlin/TNT systems. This project saved the company £2.4M within two years delivering 5,500 handsets each day to customers and to a repair centre.- Developing the after sales business model for Orange Thailand by supporting the implementation and commissioning of a DC operation in Bangkok and new service structure to replace phones and store products to service both master dealers and a network of dealers. I recruited, briefed and trained teams to service the business locally and operational supported the start-up process for both Orange and TNT sites in Bangkok.- Supporting the product launch of the original ‘smart-phones’ by acting as the liaison between logistics services for 14 countries linking into the launch team. I alos provided operational input to the physical preparation, software flashing and physical product launch.- Acting as part of a site team of three people in the Banbury UK NDC that saved £7M in logistics costs over a three year period. A specific personal success was a project for inbound supplier management, increasing standards of presentation and labelling. I also installed an EDI process for mobile phone serial numbers that was linked to pallet ID, managed the quality of the delivery and subsequent data take-on reducing the dwell-time of stock from 14 hours to 45 minutes for a load. -
