Alister Payne is an Edupreneur specialising in EdTech consulting, Cloud migration, and Chrome devices. He founded CloudEDU with the fervour to transform teaching and learning in the classroom, through technology-based innovative and collaborative methods. Since 1997, Alister has pursued a career in education, as a teacher, IT Administrator and Deputy Headmaster, upholding his lifelong principle of being of service and value to others.In his early academic years, Alister completed an undergraduate degree in Education at the Cape Town College of Education and went on to teach at SACS Junior School. During this time, Alister recognised the need for integration of technology in the classroom, as the existing administrative systems were developing and improving the practise of the teacher. As the proverbial notion of greener pastures beckoned, Alister relocated to the UK where he undertook the role of IT Administrator at Cumnor House School in Surrey. Over a four-year period, Alister assimilated the alternative educational methods simultaneously revelling in the British culture. He returned to South Africa in 2006 and accepted the position of Deputy Headmaster at WPPS.Alister embarked on his nine-year career at WPPS at a time when the school was experiencing severe financial constraints, and a dire need for implementation of change. Alister propelled himself into the position of management with the intention of redefining the academic and administrative potential of the school. He believed that education - at its core - is a communication and event management business. And he brought his technical expertise to bear on the challenges of running a school as a successful business.With a desire to upskill, he travelled an exponential curve of knowledge and went back to learning part-time at UCT. Alister graduated with a Masters degree in Information Systems, with a focus on behavioural information security - in particular adolescent online behaviour known as cyberbullying. It was imperative, he felt, to confront the lack of control he had over the security and risks concerning his pupils, within a booming digital playground.After ”Going Google” as deputy headmaster at WPPS, and assisting schools to adopt the same Cloud platform and tools, Alister founded his own business, and CloudEDU was established.
