Alissa Wehmueller is a partner and Director of Interiors at Helix Architecture + Design. She is widely regarded as one of the foremost design leaders in the region. Her ability to lead and inspire has proven transformational to the organizations she serves. Alissa’s experience spans workplace, higher education and hospitality design and includes high-profile projects such as the Kansas City University’s College of Dental Medicine, and First Federal Bank’s innovative new offices.Alissa is passionate about the design community, as evidenced by her participation in several industry organizations. She has served as the President of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Mid-America Chapter, co-chair of Kansas City Design Week, and President of the Center for Architecture and Design. In 2017, she was named the IIDA International Member of the Year, an honor given annually to one individual that demonstrates dedication to the industry through volunteer work and preservation of the organization’s mission. She is a frequent judge for design awards, as well as a sought-after speaker on topics that include workplace design and improving occupant health through design.Alissa is also active in her community. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Downtown Council of Kansas City and on the Board of Directors of the ALS Association Mid-America Chapter. She was named a NextGen Leader by the Kansas City Business Journal in 2023, is a 2017 graduate of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Centurions Leadership Program and participated in the Kansas City Mayor’s Challenge Cabinet, an effort to strengthen Kansas City through community improvement and networking initiatives.
