Mrs. Aliyah Hamel-Smith (nee Jaggassar) is an Attorney-at-Law with extensive corporate legal experience in Trinidad & Tobago, having been admitted to practice for over 19 years, inclusive of a 1 year stint in the United Kingdom.Her career started as a litigation Attorney at a prestigious law firm in Trinidad. Thereafter she spent a significant portion of her career at Royal bank of Trinidad & Tobago ('RBTT'), where she had the privilege of working as part of the legal team on RBTT's amalgamation with RBC. She was then appointed as the Head of RBC Trust (Trinidad & Tobago), where she acquired expertise in, amongst other things, pension plan administration, personal trusts and estate planning, including Will preparations. She then went on to head up the Financial Planning arm of RBC for the Caribbean Region.She continued her passion for Employee Benefits when she moved to simultaneously head up an insurance brokerage and its affiliate administration firm, specializing in pension/annuity, health and life insurance, financial wellness and estate planning.Aliyah has now formed and actively manages ExeQtrust Limited (‘EQ’), a FUTURE PLANNING company employing technology to holistically plan for and secure a person’s future. At EQ, she established the first ever online Will Generator in Trinidad & Tobago, which electronically prepares Wills that are reviewed and finalised by practicing attorneys at law. In addition to Will preparation, EQ offers tailored estate and financial planning services to both individuals and groups, including Probate, Estate and Pension Administration services. She is also focusing on strategic board appointments and strict corporate governance on the Boards and Board Committees on which she sits. In addition, she works with several charities and NGO's to support young adults emerging into the working world.
