Engr Aliyu A. Aziz is a seasoned multidisciplinary Chartered Engineer with over 30 years post qualification experience, with diverse skills, including Information Technology, Management, and Administration. He is a Principal Partner at Integrated Engineering Associates (IEA) and most recently served as the DG/CEO (2015-2023) and Director IT/IDD (2008-2014) at the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). He previously worked with some of Nigeria's most progressive Government Institutions during their transformative years. Engr Aziz was recently featured in the Tony Blaire Institute's inaugural Tech Policy Accelerator program amongst a select group of leaders in policy and politics to reimagine the role of the state in harnessing tech-enabled progress, having successfully driven a clear digital transformation strategy within the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). He championed the adoption and deployment of new technologies within Nigeria's Identity sector, including Blockchain, Cybersecurity, concepts of privacy by design, and privacy by default to combat the security and rapidly changing technological threats that face the Identity and Digital Economy sector.As a pioneer Principal Partner of Integrated Engineering Associates (IEA), Engr Aziz designed and supervised several prominent buildings and bridges in Kaduna and Abuja environs, including the National Universities Commission (NUC) Secretariat, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Headquarters, AP Plaza, Nigerian Agricultural and Cooperative Bank (NACB) Office block, and many others. He also consulted for numerous public and private sector organizations on Engineering and Information Technology issues, including Afri Projects Consortium, National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP), and the Nigeria Police Force.Engr Aziz also pioneered the implementation of the first e-government solution that won a Microsoft award in 2006. He has developed several software applications for Finite Element structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete pad footings, hollow clay pots, wind analysis of multi-story buildings, analysis and design of two-way solid slabs, and design of sections. He is proficient in countless high-level programming languages, including BASIC, FORTRAN, APL, C++, LISP, TCL/TK, JAVA, PHP, PYTHON, R, and the applications of Data Science and Machine Learning for Predictive Analysis and Recommendation Systems.He is widely traveled and an alumnus of the famous Harvard, Stanford, IMD, and Lagos Business Schools.
