Electrochemical and Gravimetric Study of Corrosion of Nickel alloys in Molten Salt to be used as heat transfer fluid in Concentrated Solar Power Plants- Dr. Gervasio• Managed and carried out studies for a $5.5M project sponsored by the Department of Energy under the topic of Metal Stability in High Temperature Chloride Salt to be use in 2nd Generation Concentrated Solar Power Plants.• Reduced corrosion rates of Nickel Alloys in Molten Chloride Salt by two orders of magnitude. Achieved corrosion rates in harsh conditions of 20μm/yr below threshold of DOE of 50 μm/yr.• Collaborated with team and Supervisor in outlining scope, deliverables and deadline of Projects• Designed and conducted multiple experiments independently and in team environment for gravimetricand electrochemical corrosion tests for Ni alloy in molten chloride salt at temperatures exceeding 800 ̊C• Completed data analysis using wide range of methods including SEM/EDS, XPS, ICP and tensile tests• Implemented detailed process and result documentation following a set of system requirementsthroughout all experiments• Managed chemical inventory and laboratory safety following OSHA standards and regulation
