WSP (2021)Technical Director Provides expert advice and support to WSP’s portfolio of station projects, with emphasis on advising on early stage design development and bid proposals. This includes a wide range of station upgrade projects including the Stockport station masterplan and upgrade proposals at London Liverpool Street.

I lead the sponsorship of all asset enhancement projects delivered by the Renewals & Enhancements team or by third party contract, on behalf of LU. My team sets the requirements and provide assurance that LU project investment meets the needs of customers, taxpayers, funders and other stakeholders and align the Mayor’s Transport Strategy and the TfL Objectives. This is a wide ranging project programme across all LU assets with a value of just under £2bn. I lead my team to work closely across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs, and to exploit opportunities, whilst ensuring the projects offer value for money and are delivered within programme and budget constraints. This role also includes the inception and development of future upgrade schemes which may then be handed over to our Major Projects team for sponsorship into delivery. Key responsibilities include: - Ensuring LU's best interests across all asset enhancement programmes from conception to benefits realisation.- Own the business cases, sponsors’ requirements and benefits realisation strategy, and ensure adequate control of any changes to them from handover for delivery to completion of the project. - Provide assurance to the LU Executive and to present high quality policy papers and project reports at Board level as required.- Ensure effective management of interfaces / dependencies across LU's major infrastructure projects and other parts of the LU, TfL and relevant third party investment programmes.- Ensuring that requirements and standards are applied appropriately across all programmes with a focus on an efficiency and value driven approach to delivery.- Work across the TfL and GLA family, along with relevant stakeholders and third parties including commercial developers, to ensure opportunities for LU’s stations and interchanges align with and enable the Mayors objectives for travel, accessibility, housing and growth.

I oversee the sponsorship of a programme of projects to enhance the capacity and accessibility of stations and interchanges across the London Underground network. This is a programme of projects worth over £2bn across 40 locations including major multi-modal interchange upgrades, integration of station improvements with third party developers and a programme of station accessibility schemes. I lead a team of 12 project sponsors who oversee the planning and specification of the programme and the development of feasibility designs and consents, through programme implementation to the delivery of benefits. We work closely with the programme delivery community, commercial and transport planning partners and widely with third party developers and local authorities.
