T H White is a growing SME, with multiple depots around the UK, and a diverse business sector. Their history is an an engineering company, with agricultural focus, they now have diversified into many fields - Agriculture, Groundcare, Dairy, Lorry Cranes (Palfinger) , Construction, Motor Vehicles, Country Store, Trailer Centre, Energy, Fire & Security, Projects and Online Store.This means you have to be quite flexible in understanding the different user requirements, and we work with many different suppliers, and a range of users from Workshop staff to Directors. The group employs over 500 employees with over 450 Devices to support. there is a 13 Site WAN ( of varied sizes) to supportWe are a team of 3, and we also employ someone in a student role each year, on a strict 12 month contract, to give someone a chance to gain some experience in the IT industry before going to university, college, or just into the rest of their career.We use help desk software and remote support tools, like RDP and Teamviewer, and also are onsite with one of the divisions, and try and visit sites regularly to have as much face to face support as we can to build a good relationship with our colleagues who are our internal customers.We regularly perform maintenance tasks, and setup and monitor backups, Antivirus, Software Updates, Networking, including physical cabling, setting up VPN's, Printers, and pretty much any day to day IT task you can think of. I am responsible for the purchasing of servers and computers, preparing a replacement schedule and negotiating prices. I have also recently researched and negotiated a change of supplier for our data connections, to make our links more resilient and improve speed by using a bonded solution.

Landmarc Support Services took over the management of all the Army Training Estates in the UK. I had previously worked as a clerk in the bookings team at Salisbury Plain and was able to use this experience to support the rest of the onsite IT Technicians around the UK. The role was very varied, getting involved in server management, desktop builds and deployment, networking, support of the normal Microsoft software packages and day to day user issues, as well as support for the bespoke IT systems.
