CH053 involves major civil construction along Harold Interlocking which consists of new retaining walls in the Westbound Bypass and relocated Main Line Track 4 fill areas, the construction of a fill embankment for the Westbound Bypass, the bridge enlargements at 43rd Street and 48th Street and the construction of the Track A tunnel approach structure. Additional work elements include a third rail traction power riser and bridge at 43rd Street, third rail manholes and duct banks, construction of the new GO2 substation, construction of 60" Ø micro tunnels for 12KV duct bank and sewer construction and a new vehicular access bridge.

    JFK BAY RUNWAY 13R-31L Reconstruction and Access Improvements (JFK-1020)REPAIRS, Port Authority of NY; for this $204 million project.Assigned as assistant to the General Superintendent, responsible for the night shift activities, coordination of subcontractors and TPC work , approval of Asphalt subcontractor's quantities and requisitions and interface with the owner's site representatives with respect to work activities and coordination with Airport Operations.The Bay Runway reconstruction involved the widening of approximately 2.75 miles of runway from 150 feet to 200 feet, including construction of new delay-reduction (High Speed) taxiways and new holding pads. The installation of new drainage system and new electrical infrastructure was also schedule for upgraded. On-site concrete plant and backup plant where utilized to minimize supply delays for the placement of the estimated 200,00 cubic yards of 18" thick pavement overlay and minimize community truck traffic. An estimated 65,000 tons of asphalt was required to be placed . To minimize Airport operational delays, much of the runway upgrade occurred during a 120 day closure period with 24 hour construction operations which was completed on time.

Primary duties covered supervision of field superintendents and total field project management. Project involves the Rehabilitation of select Station Facilities, to incorporate the ADA Upgrades to stairways, hand rails and public and employee facilities including installation of three (3) Hydraulic Elevators for street to mezzanine and mezzanine to platform areas. Major work involved S.O.E., removals and reconstruction of stairway/elevator shaft. Electrical & Architectural station upgrades of mezzanine lighting, emergency lighting, Electrical Distribution Rooms (EDR), wall tiles painting and resinous floor system. Ancillary work including, soliciting and selection of a subcontractor for replacement 86LF of a 108year old C.I. 20 in. water main located within the project’s elevator installation limits. In charge planning, means and methods, schedule reporting to staff scheduler, 2 week look ahead schedules, contractor/owner communications, determination and notice of additional work, formulation of cost proposals and negotiations with the owner. In addition, processing of monthly requisitions and subcontractor payments, including all typical duties associated with a project manager’s position. Familiar with NYCT Construct Ware Document Control System, computer literate and experienced with word and excel documents, working knowledge of AutoCadd 2004. An unanticipated challenge was dealing with on-site contaminated fill during the course of construction.

A temporary support of excavation scheme was required, to incorporated roadway & sidewalk decking to minimize community disruption of the construction below grade for the new facilities. The new civil structures required temporary soldier pile and lagging support of excavation, rock excavation by means of drill and splitting, drilled concrete filled 12 ¾" Ø steel pipe piles with 12'-20' rock sockets, new concrete CIP mat slabs, walls and roof structure. Temporary support of utilities and relocation and reconstruction of exiting sewer with a new 36" DIP system, while maintaining services where major challenges.

    Rehabilitation of Shore Road (Pelham Parkway) Bridge over the Hutchinson River (HBX 1148-R), NYCDOT Div of Movable Bridges, Bronx, NY for this $5.1 million project.Contract involved the electrical, mechanical, architectural, structural steel and concrete repairs to this existing Bascule Span movable bridge. Replacement of roadway structural steel and grating road deck in phased construction to maintain operation of the highway portion of the bridge was required. A 45 continuous day period, was scheduled to permit the bascule spans to be locked open to permit mechanical opening equipment to be rebuilt. The masonry arches and their masonry block foundations where repaired without interruption to vehicle of marine traffic by staging equipment from the waterways. Repairs to the existing system's electrical systems where performed by an electrical subcontractor.

Joint Venture in July of 1985. This $42 million project ended with only 35% completed work and a $33 million claim in Dec of 1987. The NYSDOT redesigned the original concept for constructability issues.This project entailed the construction of a 1.7 mile railroad trestle along the shoreline of the Harlem River, constructed of CIP concrete deck, supported on Pre-cast/Pre-stressed concrete beams spanning between composite pre-cast /CIP pile caps which, intern where supported on a combination of 36" Ø and 24" Ø batter driven pipe piles and 72" Ø drilled and driven steel pipe caissons. Included as part of this contract was installation of a marine fender system protecting the trestle and installation of direct fixation continuous rail, completing a connecting link to provide freight access from the western U.S. to down state New York. Drilling of obstructions and rock sockets where incorporated in the revised design.
