About Allan Freinkel

Having started StarTraq with my brothers as a bright idea, I grew it into a multi-million, multi-country global road safety and enforcement business, working with dozens of police forces worldwide, and partnering with market-leading technology firms including Jenoptic, Siemens and 3M, developing innovative solutions and creating valuable systems, IP and revenue streams.Over the years I have founded and invested in a number of exciting and successful ventures, bringing the same eye for detail and extracting value from diverse business models. Having sold StarTraq, I’m continuing my journey to find and invest in fledgling and growing businesses to help drive their success.

    Set up the company together with my brother, Dr Paul Freinkel, with the intention of privatising the traffic fine market within South Africa. Securing the Pretoria City Council contract in December 1999 for a period of five years to provide the software and hardware for the Council to run their Traffic Fine System. This then grew with the help of my two brothers into Labat Traffic Solutions (Pty) Ltd, from which we then secured a number of key contracts within South Africa utilising the software that Trojan developed. This software was then deployed in our UK operations.
