Allan had an extensive executive career in various industries. His career started as a partner in a medium sized Audit and Accounting Practice. His commercial acumen and entrepreneurial flair came in handy when, after 9 years in private practice he acquired shares in privately owned, financially distressed wholesale and distribution businesses where he held office as managing director. His financial, analytical, and leadership skills and the ability to identify and fix operational weaknesses paid off when these businesses were turned around into profitable growth enterprises.He joined Sentula Mining Limited (later named Unicorn Capital Partners Ltd) 11 years later as the chief executive of various subsidiaries within the group, with the task to turn around or unwind the financially distressed companies. He added value to shareholders by unwinding several companies, selling assets, negotiating contractual exits and oversee retrenchments in very short periods of time.His expertise was successfully utilised in the re- capitalisation and restructuring of an anthracite mine which was under care and maintenance and is now a going concern.
