Wadhwani Asset Management is a London based Systematic Hedge Fund. Since joining the company in 2007 as IT Manager, my main achievements have been as follows:- Continuous streamlining of back office and front office operational processes, allowing the company to expand and take on more managed funds- Implementing an automated Risk Management system to allow the company to launch a regulated on-shore UCITS fund- Continually improve and upgrade the IT infrastructure to allow for growth in the systematic models- Introduced vastly improved Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans, with continual testing and refinement.- Conducted a security review of the internal and external networks then implemented various measures to help protect company IP- Planned and successfully implemented two complex office moves that included complete infrastructure refreshes and technology updates.- Introduction and day to day management of a virtualised server environment using VMWare vSphere, VMWare Site Recovery Manager and EMC SANs- Implemented a much-improved backup strategy, leveraging Veeam and EMC DataDomain devices. DCR Developments is the software arm of the hedge fund Hasenbichler Asset Management. The company was formed to write a set of tools for the systematic trading of futures. I joined the team at a very early stage in the development process and as such I have had a pivotal role in the growth of the company. As Systems Architect, I choose the technical direction and tool sets used in the development of all products.I designed and implemented the following products:- Market Data Services- Order Management System- Strategy Tracking Intranet - Systems Status Intranet- Broker Reconciliation System- Risk Analysis & Reporting Intranet- Product Packaging, Deployment & Patching

GTECH are the largest supplier of lottery systems in the world, and a member of the Camelot consortium in the UK. They develop systems using C/C++, Sybase and the JYACC JAM 4GL.My role has been to lead a team of 7 people customising the system for a major new client, the Washington State Lottery. This involved working on the design of modifications and new modules, producing estimates and resource allocation for the work, and managing the development whilst taking on several components of the development personally.

Citymax are a market leader in the financial software field. The have developed the Arrow product which is used as an interface to the Bank Of England Crest Paperless Trading System. My role at Citymax was to design and develop numerous Host Interface programs, which would allow Citymax customers to trade using their existing back end systems via Arrow and into Crest. Due to the differing Host Systems architectures of different customers, various communications protocols had to be used. These included SNA, DEC Message Queues, shared databases and batch file input. All work was undertaken in ANSI C under HP9000, DEC ALPHA and IBM RS6000 Unix platforms. The nature of this work involved a lot of customer interfacing and on-site support to assist customers through their various Crest trialling phases. During my time at Citymax, I was also involved in the development of the core Arrow product.

Video Lottery Technologies were one of the bidders for the UK National Lottery system. They develop a number of different lottery systems. I was leading a team working on the redevelopment of scratch card systems, using the JAM 4GL, C and Oracle. The software was originally developed in the USA, and is now being upgraded, internationalised and documented in the UK.

Britannia is a software house specialising in Fixed Asset systems. They were migrating their packages from C into a RAD and 4GL based approach, to improve productivity and responsiveness. My role was to provide expertise in the use of 4GL tools, and lead the implementation of the initial applications. This involved helping with the development of the specification, allocation of tasks, implementation of standards and developing and testing specific modules of the package.

BIS Banking Systems (since ACT Banking Systems and now Midas Kapiti Banking Systems) are a software house specialising in the banking and finance area. My role was initially as part of a team, developing treasury and risk management systems, and latterly leading a team that implemented and tested the packages for a specific customer. The software was written using C, C++, JAM 4GL, Sybase and Oracle, and the Newi Object Request Broker.

Missing Link is a software house specialising in Human Resource packages.I joined Missing Link as a Junior Software Engineer. After preliminary training, I was involved in customisation on the DOS Human Resource package. I also used C to develop in-house utility programs to assist the development process. I rapidly progressed through various positions in the development team, performing several different roles up to Senior Programmer, and then Programming Supervisor. Tasks generally involved programming in C or C++, and included maintenance programming on the existing package modules, documenting existing code, enhancements to the in-house developed data management system, and setting up the departmental version control system using Intersolv's PVCS.In 1992 Missing Link commenced a complete redevelopment of their products using Open Systems technology. The JAM client/server 4GL tool kit was selected, under Windows 3.1, using Oracle, Sybase and Gupta SQLBase as the RDBMS server. As Project Manager I controlled this redevelopment from start to end, with approximately 10 customer sites testing the new product. We ported the product onto a UNIX workstation under Motif (SCO UNIX), against Oracle v7.Following a departmental reorganisation, I was promoted to the position of System Architect, responsible for the architecture of all Missing Link products. The role encompassed all aspects of the development life cycle from analysis, design, coding, user interface, integration & testing, and on-going maintenance. I put in place coding and documentation standards for all the development tools that were used (C, C++, JAM, Oracle, etc.), and was responsible for ensuring that all work adhered to them. Missing Link were striving to achieve BS5750, and in order to achieve this a rigorous Quality Management System had to be implemented, including stringent change control procedures.

My role in the Marketing Department was to monitor profitability levels of bus routes, down to the single journey level. In order to do this, I piloted a new computerised Management Information System, using a mixture of Lotus 123 and structured Basic programs. Having successfully installed the system at a single site, I then co-ordinated the installation at all of the sites throughout the Strathclyde region.

During my time at IBM, I was taught APL and used this to implement a time recording and charting system which was used to monitor the performance of the manufacturing line at Greenock.
