About Allan Sharman, Dipwset

Wine & Spirits professional with over 15 years of experience in the industry working for a cooperative wine merchant. I am currently working as a Wine, Supply and Sustainability Administrator. Previously, I was a Wine Specialist at The Wine Society. This role utilises the combination of my Degree in Environmental Management & Information Technology together with my passion for wine, which I developed shortly after joining The Wine Society in 2007. I obtained a Diploma in Wines & Spirits through the WSET in August 2013. I spent three years working in a call centre environment taking orders, handling delivery enquiries, general enquiries, complaints and providing fine wine advice to Society members (customers/clients). After joining the Support Team in 2011, I took on responsibility for website and digital enquiries and complaints. In 2013, I joined the Quality Team and regularly assess members' returns of wines to determine faults and quality issues through inspection and tasting with Society Buyers.In terms of fine wine advice, I assist members with selections of wines based on grape varieties, wine regions, food & wine matching, drinking windows and functions such as anniversaries and Christening gifts. This requires strong knowledge of wines and spirits as well as the stock inventory that the company holds and familiarity with the tasting profiles of the wines that we sell. This role often involves or leads to direct sales to the consumer.Alongside my main role as a Wine Specialist, I also manage the company's TrustPilot Reviews and the departmental Intranet on The Hub. Additionally, I manage product reviews on our third-party client Yotpo together with fixing membership issues and anomalies in EpiServer via Commerce Manager and background CMS.
