I have stated my own training and behavior consulting program through Colorado Equine and Small Animal Clinic. I provide basic training services to cater to the every day dog and support owners as we teach new behaviors. I also provide behavioral consulting for more challenging behaviors we might see in dogs such as aggression, separation anxiety, or other troublesome behaviors. I also offer puppy socialization classes which are geared to exposing puppies to new sights and sounds, teaching owners some of the basics about owning a puppy, and training some basic behaviors. My goal through these programs is to strengthen the relationship between the dog and owner as well as build trust.

I created programs for puppy training, basic obedience, separation anxiety, counter conditioning, and more. I was responsible for not only writing the curriculum but also marketing, enrolling clients, setting prices, documenting training classes, follow ups, and more.

I was responsible for the functions of the kennel which included the boarding and daycare programs. I assisted my staff with the day to day by taking on shifts, creating cleaning lists, communicating to other departments our needs, and hiring and training new employees. I created standard operating protocols for all of our functions and reviewed it with my team to ensure transparency and clear communication. I also created behavior presentations for my team and all of our corporate partners that outlined behaviors noted in social settings and the appropriate way to address them. I took on the more difficult clients and came up with solutions to problems that they may had. With that, I handled any employee conflict in the kennel and worked towards solutions that benefited my team. I also assisted throughout the entire hospital by stepping in as a receptionist, nurse assistant, handyman, and help with general managerial duties. I served on the leadership team and got the opportunity to solve problems, handle HR discrepancies, and created fun activities and programs to boost employee engagement and morale.

As a Lead Animal Technician, I was responsible for communicating with our clients the daily health of their animals, price changes, facility improvements, and other information that they would find important. I was responsible for making sure that our charges and register add up at the end of the day and reported that information back to the owner. I created a behavior training program that outlined canine behavior and ways to interpret it. It specified issues that we see in our daycare and created consistency amongst all of our employees in their modification techniques. I ran monthly meetings that informed our employees on changes that we made and reminded them of their responsibilities. I assisted in all of the miscellaneous things that needed done around the facility to keep it running smoothly.

I monitored animal behavior and ensured safety of the dogs while they played. I completed daily cleaning tasks that ranged from picking up poop to cleaning ceilings. I was held responsible to maintain a clean facility that was safe for our clients.

I was able to assist with all the responsibilities the keepers had on a daily basis. I assisted in cleaning the yards, barns, holding yards, waterers, pools, driveways, and anything else the keepers or animals had access to. I prepared elephant diets by chopping up vegetables, loading the hay truck, stuffing enrichment boxes, measuring pellet, and preparing medication. I had the opportunity to be involved in the enrichment projects for the elephants and even made a project of my own. Overall, my internship gave me the opportunity to experience all the daily tasks of the elephant keepers.

I taught lessons to all ages, managed camps for kids ages 5-13, worked with horses of all backgrounds and experience levels, and assisted with tasks around the property and with the horses.
