The University of Idaho has an Advertising Competition Team that competes each year against other Universities. Each team is required to put together a five month campaign spread for the same client. Last year the client was Glidden Paint through Wal-Mart. The team at the University of Idaho took first at regionals and twelfth in the nation. I applied for the team this year and was accepted. Our client is Mary Kay. I look forward to putting my time and effort into this campaign, as well as getting hands on experience for what life might be like in an advertising agency.

At Nectar I am required to learn about the wines we sell to our customers thoroughly so that I can sell them to my best ability. I also serve our customers the food and drinks they desire. Nectar is a great way to network due to the fact that the department heads of the university frequently holds meetings and important events at Nectar. Nectar has also taught me how to converse with an eclectic group of people in a social and professional setting. I currently work around 25 hours a week during the school year.

I wait tables for a BBQ restaurant in my hometown: Eagle, Idaho. Mickey Shields, the owner, allows me to work every time I am in town.

I worked around 15 hours a week with a hyper local ad agency in Moscow, Idaho. I was a marketing intern for Appearances and my role varied from week to week. I did anything from making fliers for events we were hosting for our clients to simply setting up tables and chairs for events. We had several clients around Moscow such as Clearview Eye Clinic, and Eastside Marketplace (which is a strip mall on the east side of town). The biggest thing I took away from this job was how to interact with clients professionally.
